The restaurants at Lapland Hotels Ounasvaara Chalets change with the seasons. During the winter season, Restaurant Thulia's breakfast of northern flavors is extended to include dinner. In summer, the unique Summer Restaurant Sauna, located by the Kemijoki River, transforms into the WNTR Sauna. The Kota Restaurant, which operates as a private dining venue, is also available for reservation.

Ounasvaara Chalets Christmas buffet

Welcome to indulge and get into the Christmas spirit on Friday, 28.11. from 18–21.00.

There is a rich Christmas buffet full of authentic Lappish flavors and traditional Christmas delicacies – there is something for everyone. The buffet is open to all – warmly welcome alone, as a couple, or with a group!

Breakfast of northern flavors

Our breakfast, based on authentic northern flavors and ingredients, is served every morning in the hotel restaurant. From the breakfast buffet, you can find northern fish, leipäjuusto (Finnish squeaky cheese), waffles, and the beloved Hurmos porridge from Lapland Hotels. The breakfast includes all the elements that kickstart a good day, showcasing Lapland hospitality and a rich selection of northern flavors for a relaxed atmosphere.

You can also enjoy breakfast without staying at the hotel for €20 per person (children aged 4–12: €10 per person).

Restaurant Thulia

Restaurant Thulia is a cozy, Lapland evening restaurant that is open during the winter season. Our restaurant has three natural stone fireplaces, a large outdoor terrace, and a cozy lobby bar.

Restaurant services during winter:

  • 24.10.–30.11.2025 from 5 pm to 10 pm (kitchen open until 9:30 pm); à la carte menu

  • 1.12.2025–11.1.2026 from 12 pm to 10 pm (kitchen open until 9:30 pm); snack menu and daily buffet dinner

  • 12.1.–15.3.2026 from 3 pm to 10 pm (kitchen open until 9:30 pm), à la carte menu and daily buffet dinner.

  • 16.3.–5.4.2026 from 6 pm to 9:30 pm (kitchen open until 9 pm); à la carte menu

Christmas and New Year's opening hours:

  • On Christmas Eve 24.12. the restaurant is open from 12:00 pm. A rich and delicious Christmas Eve buffet is available from 6 pm to 9:30 pm.

  • On New Year's Eve 31.12. the restaurant is open from 12:00 pm. A festive and rich New Year's buffet is available from 6 pm to 9:30 pm.

Lobby Bar

The hotel lobby bar is a relaxing place to sit and enjoy a cup of coffee or a glass of something cold. The lobby bar serves guests during the reception's opening hours.

Lapland Hotels Ounasvaara Chalets restaurant Kota

Kota Restaurant by reservation

The cozy kota, traditional Lappish hut, is a piece of authentic Lapland. In this comfortable setting, you can enjoy dining by an open fire. The atmosphere and warmth of the kota are enhanced by a large fireplace and a separate stove. The kota can accommodate up to 35 people.

Kotaravintola hosts kota evenings on Thursdays during the autumn and spring. The kota menu and reservation details and conditions are attached. At other times, the kota restaurant can be reserved for groups by request.

WNTR Sauna and Ice Hole

Enjoy the warmth of a wood-heated sauna and take a dip in the refreshing Kemijoki River throughout the winter. At WNTR Sauna, you can also have a meal and sit by the campfire.

Kesärafla Sauna

In summer, you can indulge in delicious food cooked on a charcoal grill at the terrace restaurant of the hotel’s lakeside sauna. While dining, you can also enjoy the warmth of the wood-heated sauna and take a refreshing dip in the river.
