SMOKY BBQ DISHES ON A VERDANT ISLAND IN ROVANIEMI
The Rovaniemi summer is scented with smoke and BBQ delicacies! The highly popular Savurafla that opened in summer 2022 is situated in the old boathouse on Kotisaari Island. You can only reach the island by boat along the scenic Kemijoki River.
Tero Mäntykangas, Head Chef of Lapland Hotels & Safaris, and his team are in charge of the smoker grill, the heart of Savurafla. On Kotisaari Island, there is a real smoker oven that completes the smokery entity. The premises of Savurafla in the old boathouse are charming in their simplicity. The long, wooden tables gather diners together to enjoy the atmospheric evening. There are plenty of interesting details, such as the old fishing net hanging from the ceiling.

A RESTAURANT IN THE OLD BOATHOUSE ON KOTISAARI ISLAND
In the spirit of its lumberjack past, the verdant island has no asphalt or air conditioning and the only running water is the river flowing past. The restaurant respects the island’s history as the stronghold of lumberjacks, and history is still present in the island’s old buildings.
