The intimate 150-seater wooden log restaurant of Pallas serves those returning to the fell year after year with a tasty and rich breakfast and dinner buffet. After a day of skiing or hiking you always have some room left for pampering yourself. The guaranteed favorites of the À la carte list, such as Pallas’ escallop, or the delicious creamy salmon soup are the perfect way to round off your day.


During the spring and the autumn color season there’s dancing in the restaurant, or one can stay listening to a troubadour.

CHAMPAGNES

There is only one place in the world where Champagne is made, in the Northern
French wine region of Champagne, 150 km north-east of Paris. Champagne is
suitable for any occasion; as an aperitif, savoured with a meal, to toast special
occasions, socialising or to round off an evening.
The quality factors making Champagne distinct from other sparkling wines are the
northern location, particularly traditional techniques for making, and the chalky
soil. Three grapes are permitted for use in Champagnes; Pinot Noir, Pinot Meunier
and Chardonnay. Using these grapes, a complex mixing process is performed using
traditional ways of preparation to produce the world’s most esteemed sparkling
wine, champagne.

RICH WHITE WINES WITH A HINT OF OAK
These wines have matured in oak barrels and the oak aroma is well presented in its bouquet,
sometimes roasted and smoky, sometimes nutty with vanilla – depending on the oak. The

ROSÉ WINE

Rosé is produced the same way as white wine, but using red grapes, and contact with
grape skin is very brief. Rosé is superb with salads, vegetable dishes and a variety of fish
dishes. Some of the bravest can try it with a pepper steak, as rosé retains excess pepper
and harmonises the entirety. Also an excellent aperitif when chilled well.

The atmospheric wooden log restaurant of Pallas was built in 1948, ten years after the functionalist hotel was completed at the side of Vahtikuru. Just before the wars, some of the movable items from the old hotel were moved to Pajala, Sweden — to keep them safe. Today our magnificent restaurant has the very same reindeer bell lamps that were part of the decoration of the old Pallas hotel. Also sitting on the reindeer chairs found on the restaurant hall card has been played and the panoramic scenery has been viewed 70 years ago.


The artificial lighting is one of the most well known items in our hotel.


There are numerous paintings decorating the restaurant and cabinet. Most of those are magnificent works of art by local artist Veli Koljonen, who lives in Särkijärvi.
