KARHUNPESÄ – NOBLE ISOLATION AND TRANQUILITY OF NATURE

Karhunpesä, built in 1967, is a high-quality log cabin located 30 kilometers from Rovaniemi. Its history is enriched by the many notable figures who have regularly visited. One of them was President Urho Kekkonen, who visited Karhunpesä for 25 years until 1981. Kekkonen hosted important statesmen such as the 36th President of the United States, Lyndon B. Johnson, King Carl XVI Gustaf of Sweden, Israel's 4th Prime Minister Golda Meir, and Soviet politician Leonid Brezhnev.

Kekkonen considered Karhunpesä an ideal place for visits. It was a perfect venue for secret intergovernmental negotiations in complete peace. The history of the place is colored by Kekkonen's personality and the stories related to his visits. Good Finnish food and sauna were important to the president, and thus, we have paid special attention to the sauna experience and dinner at Karhunpesä. We want to offer our guests the same excellent sauna experience and dining as the president himself!

Dinner capacity for 46 people. Outdoor wooden hut for 60 people.

Chef's Atmospheric Dinner

• President Kekkonen's Starters: Lightly salted whitefish, whitefish roe, sour cream, marinated red onion, sweet dark bread
• Main Course: Moose tenderloin, oven-baked beetroot, almond potato puree, game sauce, cranberry jelly
• Dessert: Cloudberry cheesecake, caramel foam
• Coffee/tea

Price: 95€ per person (valid for a minimum of 10 people)
Welcome Glögi: 7€ per person (also available non-alcoholic)

Additional Fees:

• Karhunpesä Sauna Package: 481 € (3 hours)
• Includes an electric-heated log sauna for 10 people and a traditional wood-heated lakeside sauna for 10 people (ice swimming if weather permits), towels, and toiletries.
• Hot Tub for 5-6 People: 799 €

Savory Snacks with Sauna:

• Nuts, dried fruits, potato chips: 6 € per person
• Sausages & potato salad, rustic bread & butter: 10 € per person

Venue Rental:

Dinners include 4 hours of venue rental. Additional hours: 300€ per starting hour.

Cancellation Terms:

If a confirmed reservation is canceled, the following terms apply:

Cancellation:

• 22 days or more before the event: no charge
• 21-8 days before the event: 50% of the confirmed order total will be charged
• 7 days or less before the event: 100% of the confirmed order total will be charged

Reduction in the number of participants:

• Up to 10% of the confirmed number of participants can be canceled free of charge, 2 days before the order.
• Cancellations 1 day before, on the same day, or no-show cases will be charged 100% cancellation fee.
• Cancellation notice must be provided in writing.
