Lapland Hotels Sky Ounasvaara and Sky Kitchen & View restaurant reopen their doors after renovations

Lapland Hotels Sky Ounasvaara underwent a makeover and reopened its doors to the public at the beginning of 2020. With the renovations the hotel has risen to a new level that is worthy of its surroundings. The conference facilities and the famous Sky Kitchen & View restaurant also underwent an extensive overhaul.

Lapland Hotels Sky Ounasvaara opened its brand new facilities for the new winter season. The extensive renovations have brought the classic hotel into the modern era without losing the charm of the original building. The decor features harmonious and earthly hues dedicated to the nature of the great wild North. Located on top of the Ounasvaara fell, the hotel’s windows open to a breathtaking view.

“We wanted to update the hotel while cherishing its iconic look. The end result is fantastic and blends beautifully into the landscape. The surrounding nature and the natural northern light streaming through the windows are important to the hotel’s decor and atmosphere,” says Lapland Hotels CEO Ari Vuorentausta.

In addition to the hotel rooms and the public spaces, Sky Ounasvaara renewed its conference facilities. The hotel now provides an auditorium for 100 people as well as three smaller banquette rooms.

New and improved menu at the top-class Sky Kitchen & View restaurant

The Sky Kitchen & View restaurant’s facilities were made over in the renovations. The standards of the restaurant were also raised to a whole new level. Locally sourced ingredients and unique flavours of northern nature continue to be the cornerstones of the menu. The high-class restaurant will serve three and four course surprise menus. A more relaxed bistro menu is available alongside the surprise menu.

“The end result is of highest quality. I can proudly say that the most famous restaurant in Lapland is back at the top where it belongs – as the number one restaurant in Rovaniemi and one of the top restaurants in all of Finland,” says Tero Mäntykangas, Executive Chef at Lapland Hotels.

“We have completely renewed the restaurant. The culinary experiences we offer are greater and more innovative than ever before. The flavour of modern Lapland is now elegantly highlighted,” Mäntykangas goes on to explain.

The renovation gave the restaurant a more modern look. The nature of Lapland seen through the large windows of the dining room will continue to colour and shape the atmosphere that changes with the seasons.
