Winter 2017 promises to be freezing! For the first time ever, Germania has expanded its winter flight schedules to include two destinations in Lapland, Finland, transporting passengers straight to its snowy regions. Rovaniemi, the principle city of Lapland, and Kittilä, which is located even further north, have been added to Germania’s network, offering passengers the opportunity to experience Finland’s unique landscape. Flights to Rovaniemi depart from Berlin and flights to Kittilä depart from Düsseldorf. There will be two flights per week to each far north destination between 11 January and 23 March 2017.
Finland has a lot to offer visitors. Rovaniemi is Santa Claus’s official home town and therefore has an irresistible appeal for children, while Kittilä is the ideal base for any excursions in the region. In particular, the two ski resorts of Levi und Ylläs attract winter sports fans and offer not only downhill skiing opportunities, but also provide plenty of Husky-drawn and motorised sledges to allow visitors to explore the wintery landscape. The greatest attraction of all is the Northern Lights, which light up the Finnish sky in a kaleidoscope of colours when the sun sets, unveiling one of nature’s greatest spectacles.
Karsten Balke, Germania’s Chief Executive Officer (CEO), says:
“For those who enjoy a proper winter holiday, these two destinations are ideal. We are delighted to be able to offer our passengers flights to snowy destinations, in addition to our established sunny holiday spots.”
