Lapland Hotels brings the best chefs to Kuopio and Tampere in March

Press release | Fri Mar 06 07:26:00 2020

Hans Välimäki’s visit to Gallá Kitchen & Bar in Kuopio on 14 March launches the series of chef visits and Winemakers dinners in the restaurants of Lapland Hotels’ city destinations in the spring. The final event in the series will be the visit of Filip Langhoff, chef of restaurant Jord, at Dabbal Kitchen & Bar in Tampere on 28 March. The purpose of these visits is to offer customers new ways of enjoying the purest ingredients of the North and showcase the solid expertise of the waiting staff.

Lapland Hotels boasts long traditions of having famous chefs visit its restaurants. Tero Mäntykangas, head of the restaurants’ cuisine, is no stranger to inviting the top names of the restaurant industry for a visit. The guest stars should always share the philosophy of using the finest Nordic flavours and the freshest ingredients from Lapland. As a result, customers have been introduced to new, fascinating versions of dishes made from the restaurants’ own ingredients.

“The visits offer our customers a fantastic opportunity to enjoy flavours with a Lappish twist, cooked up by a famous chef from another restaurant. At the same time, we get to see different ways of working and exchange ideas. This also expands our own work,” explains Tero Mäntykangas, Head Chef of Lapland Hotels.

The visits are interesting and may also prove educational to the visiting chefs, especially due to the unique ingredients.

“I’m sure it’s fun to get to use willow grouse, for example. People may not be very familiar with it as an ingredient,” says Mäntykangas.

Winemakers dinners showcase the solid expertise of the waiting staff

Organised in Oulu on 20 March and Rovaniemi on 21 March, the Winemakers dinners celebrate the union of outstanding Nordic ingredients and wines from the Spanish winery Barón de Ley. The dinners are focused on carefully planned dishes and the perfect wine pairing.

The chef visits revolve around amazing food, whereas the Winemakers dinners demonstrate the professional skills of the waiting staff.

“At the Winemakers dinners, we get to show our customers how the dishes and the perfectly selected wines complement each other and bring the dining experience to a whole new level. Our waiting staff also get to flaunt their distinguished skills during these dinners,” says Mäntykangas.

Hans Välimäki will visit Kuopio on 14 March. Välimäki is a decorated Michelin star chef, famous from television as well as a number of top-quality restaurants. In Kuopio, Välimäki plans to demonstrate his skills with ingredients such as willow grouse and red king crab.

Another Michelin star chef and owner and chef of restaurant Jord, Filip Langhoff will visit Dabbal Kitchen & Bar in Tampere with his wife Linda Stenman-Langhoff on 28 March. The five-course menu will feature delicacies such as cold-smoked willow grouse, grilled red king crab and elk tournedos.
