This national park includes a total of 100km of marked hiking routes. The routes are perfect for anything between short strolls, a few hour walks, or even whole-day hikes.

Amethyst mine in Europe
The only functioning amethyst mine in Europe is located in the middle of beautiful Lappish scenery and Pyhä-Luosto National Park, near the Luosto fell centre.
The only functioning amethyst mine in Europe is located in the middle of beautiful Lappish scenery and Pyhä-Luosto National Park, near the Luosto fell centre. Lampivaara Amethyst mine is probably the only gemstone mine where visitors are welcomed. At the mine on the top of the fell, you are guided through the enchanting world of precious stones. You will hear tales that have been told for thousands of years and even get to mine an amethyst of your own! A unique souvenir that has been waiting for someone to discover it for over 2,000 years.
Amethyst mine visits start at the Lampivaara cafe. In the summer, you can hike or ride a bike to the cafe, in the winter it is possible to ski, snowshoe, or jump on board the amethyst pendolino.

Luosto center - Ukkoluosto Parking area - Lampivaara
The route starts form the centre of Luosto, at the National Park entrance gates and continues along the ski track towards Ukkoluosto parking area. From the parking area the path continues along the ski track in the direction of Lampivaara. This route is partially hilly but the breathtaking scenery that you’ll see opening from Lampivaara, make the climb well worth it! Cycling route.
Huttujärvi - Kopara
The starting point of this route is at the junction of Huttujärvi road. You can drive a car to the starting point, or ride a bike from the centre of Pyhä. Until Huttujärvi this route is an easy sandy road, but after that it becomes more challenging (the track is partially rocky, and there’s a few damp areas and height differences. We recommend riding a mountain bike with suspension). After Porontahtoma there are multiple route options: carry on to Lampivaara, Rykimäkero, or drop by in Kopara. An easier return route to the starting point is achieved by taking the Pyhäluosto-road. Mountain bike route.
The route around Luosto-fell
From the centre along the ski track to the Torvinen hut (Luostonloma), carry on along the ski track in the direction of Lampivaara and return along the Lampivaara route all the way back to the centre. Mountain bike route.

A day trip from one fell to another is a nice experience for an experienced skier. If you like, you can take the SkiBus back. Most of the maintained tracks are suitable for both traditional and skate skiing styles.
