Top condition in skiing tracks brings national teams to Saariselkä
A lot of hard work has been done to get the Saariselkä area’s skiing tracks to its current top condition. With storage snow from last winter and new snow made with snow cannons during the first frosts in October there’s a vast network of skiing tracks in Saariselkä. In all 10 kilometers of track for all users free of charge to ski. Tracks which will be used in Saariselkä FIS-competition (NOV 22-24) are ready for advanced skiers with 54 meters of altitude difference. As an additional service the ski testing place which is made from storage snow is open. Easier tracks for non-professionals are also available.
All skiing tracks and ski testing place are maintained daily.
After the opening day OCT 10 the number of skiers has been growing all the time. Top list skier finnish Anne Kyllönen is in Saariselkä for the second time this season. Also other finnish skiers and club teams as well as Team Austria and Team Japan have arrived with national team and Olympic team skiers. From France there are 20 youth team skiers.
Teams from China, Kazakhstan, Korea, Turkey and Greece are going to participate the Saariselkä FIS ski race. Seems it will be a record year in participants in the ski race. Russian Olympic team will arrive to Saariselkä in NOV 4 and stay for over three weeks practicing and taking part in the FIS ski race.
