Kilpis

Activities

The fells exert their attraction in both summer and winter

Visitors to Kilpis come either enchanted by the scenery or eager to participate in their activity of choice. In winter the fells attract ski trekkers and downhill skiers eager to discover the best powder snow either towed behind snowmobiles by or airlifted by helicopter to reach the high summits on our neighbours’ side of the border. Winter days are topped off with a sauna and a plunge in the waters of the frozen lake.

In summers we not only serve walkers and fishermen, but also travellers by car or motorbike.
For these guests we can offer:

  • washing facilities for motorbikes, sauna and drying cabinets
  • pre-prepared routes to Norway’s best viewing spots, with day trips varying from 2-8 hours
  • weather forecasts available from Reception
  • guides to accompany you, whether you are alone or in a group. The Hotel’s motorbike guides will lead you straight to the best viewing spots, tell you where to get fuel and inform you of the ferry timetables
  • garaging for bikes, max. 20 bikes
  • basic servicing if necessary, with oil and chain spray available from Reception
  • assistance if required, even on the Norwegian side of the border. Towing can be arranged
  • like-minded company, barbecue evenings at the Hotel’s ‘Kalastajatorppa’ lodge on the banks of Lake Kilpisjärvi, weather warnings
