Dedicated paths for Nordic walkers
The new Nordic Fitness Sports Parks at Ylläs
and Levi certainly offer variety and challenge for the Nordic walker
- or they could introduce the summer visitor to a totally new form of
fitness activity.
The Ylläs Nordic Fitness Sports Park has 11
separate routes with a total distance of more than 120 kilometres. The
routes are varied and there are climbs and descents to be found that
present a worthy challenge to the fearless. On Ylläs most of the
walking is on tracks over good ground which give under the feet of the
Nordic walker. Some of the routes take the walker through the
Pallas-Ylläs fell national park.
Within the Levi Nordic Fitness Sports Park's
Nordic walking park on the side of Levi fell are 13 colour-coded
routes, classified according to the level of difficulty, that run along
paths and duckboards - in all 113 kilometres leading through
spectacular countryside. Suitable circular routes of 1.5 - 15
kilometres can be found to suit every walker, regardless of fitness
level or time available.
