CHAMPAGNES

There is only one place in the world where Champagne is made, in the Northern French wine region of Champagne, 150 km north-east of Paris. Champagne is suitable for any occasion; as an aperitif, savoured with a meal, to toast special occasions, socialising or to round off an evening.

The quality factors making Champagne distinct from other sparkling wines are the northern location, particularly traditional techniques for making, and the chalky soil. Three grapes are permitted for use in Champagnes; Pinot Noir, Pinot Meunier and Chardonnay. Using these grapes, a complex mixing process is performed using traditional ways of preparation to produce the world’s most esteemed sparkling wine, champagne.

Rosé wine

Rosé is produced the same way as white wine, but using red grapes, and contact with grape skin is very brief. Rosé is superb with salads, vegetable dishes and a variety of fish dishes.
